Sometimes in life, something so magical happens that you have to tell the story. I hold these stories close to my heart because they are so special. I have been inspired to share this story, because it is an incredible blessing and an affirmation of faith.
On a warm summers night several years ago, I was at the Yeti’s farm. As he had done many times before, he built us a campfire in the backyard fire pit.
Together, we set up the double wide hammock next to the fire pit and covered it with pillows and a sleeping bag. Snuggling in each others arms, we stared into the darkness looking for shooting stars and satellites. It was partly cloudy with a twinkling stars poking through here and there. It was perfect, stargazing and talking well into the night.
As I lay there looking up, I silently prayed. I said “Jesus, if you are there, watching over us, can you please show me a streak of light?” I was half expecting to see the usual meteorites and shooting stars that we had seen many times before in the night sky in the country. God had bigger plans, exceeding my wildest expectations!
About 10 minutes after my request, I turned to the Yeti, and over his shoulder, in the yard, I see a tiny “streak of light”! It was very bright, but brief. My eyes widened with wonder! I saw another, and then another! I said, look!
Arising to our surroundings we saw fireflies all around us!! We were completely in awe as they came closer to the hammock and completely surrounded us for about ten minutes and then suddenly vanished.
There, as requested, in a most unexpected way was my “streak of light”. My small prayer request into the night sky was answered. The Yeti told me that he didn’t recall ever seeing fireflies at his place in the twenty years he had lived there.
No request is too small for God. He delights in surprising us in the most unexpected ways. This incredible but brief display of God’s work was an affirmation in faith for both of us on that warm June night.

He most often answers in the most unexpected ways. In ways that we know for sure that it was Him. And He smiles. Lovely memory!
Indeed. ❤️
JoAnn.I really enjoyed your love story. It really filled me up. Funny thing… my son and I were talking about fireflies two days ago and how we thought there were none outwest…only down home and then I read your story. Amazing!
Another certain sign it was a blessing from above! ❤️
