The first time I recall seeing the Yeti was in my hometown skating rink, around 1975. He was four years old and was at the rink with his mom, watching his sister at figure skating lessons.
He was the cutest little blonde kid. It is incredible really, that I have that vivid memory of a small boy from the area where we were both raised.
Never could I have imagined that this precious soul would grow up to generate so much love, not only to me, but to all who knew him.
Flash forward sixteen years. I was on a date, and we attended a house party of some of his friends. One of the friends that lived there was Yeti.
He entered the living room from the hallway and my world stood still.
Without a doubt in my mind, before the night was over, he would have my number and he would know my intention. I just had to know this gentle man of impressive stature.
The young man I attended the party with seemed to become invisible. That was the end of that potential relationship! I have apologized to him with sincerity since that night, as it was a crappy thing to do.
The Yeti was just that magnetic.
During that year, the Yeti and I dated on and off, but with our age difference and lifestyles, we just could not endure a long-distance relationship. He was incredibly special to me, and, as I later found out, he had never forgotten the magic of our soul connection.
With too many miles between us, we just drifted apart. Going our separate ways, we married other people, each had two children at approximately the same time, and went about the business of raising our families.
Our respective marriages failed, and once we reorganized our family lives, fate stepped in once again.
This love story was not over. In fact, it was just beginning.
